Getting to Know Me

Hello! It has been quite some time since I've sat behind a keyboard and penned (keyboarded?) anything that was meant to be read by anyone but myself or my husband. I've missed it. So, as I begin a new stage of life with my family, I thought it only right to get back to my roots (gardening pun intended) and document my journey.

So, to start, you can call me MJ. I'm a Catholic wife, stay-at-home mom to one baby girl (so far), and aspiring Homesteader. Currently my little family lives in a one bedroom apartment, leaving no space whatsoever for gardening, canning, sewing, or for our little family to continue to grow. We are in the process of buying a home, that (if all goes well...and if you have any Saint Joseph prayers to spare please say them on our behalf) sits on almost a full 1/2 acre of land. It has a gorgeous backyard, and a spacious kitchen for me to turn into a workspace. I am incredibly excited! I want nothing more than to raise our children on a more simple, and old fashioned way of life.

"Now," you might say, "If you're looking for a more old fashioned way of life, why would you start a blog, Instagram, etc." My answer is simple: It would be foolish to say that we can shut ourselves off from the world entirely. Yes, starting a blog and having any kind of social media opens our life up to be scrutinized, but, I think there are probably plenty of people like me out there. You know, women who want to live more like their grandmothers did, hanging the washing outside, growing their own kitchen gardens, baking bread, and letting their little ones grow up wild and free, barefoot in the grass. I guess you could say that I'm looking for a community, or rather, looking to build a community of women who can learn and grow together.

We really will be learning and growing together...I am not even a novice homesteader. In fact, so far I can't even keep the orchid we were gifted alive, and I didn't even have to plant that! However, what few homemaking skills I do have I intend to share, and those I don't have yet, I intend to learn, blogging as I go along. This won't just be my successes, in fact, I imagine that this blog will be more often made up of my failures, haha. Which is the point also of the forums attached to this blog! I'll ask questions, you'll ask questions, we'll answer each other to the best of our abilities, and if I don't have an answer to something you ask, I will go searching for it!

Us mom's have to stick together; stay-at-home, working, single, or married, it's part of our calling to be there and build each other up.

So, welcome to this crazy adventure of mine! I can't wait to get to know you!

Blessings,

MJ
